A Heavenly Vacation

“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” Hebrews 4:9 KJV.
We all need a vacation at one time or another. A chance to kick back and rest from our labors, to relax, refresh and regroup. There is a vacation that is the ultimate destination. It is a mysterious vacation spot where some travelers are taken to of their own accord and some just happen to find themselves there for a short time to learn a valuable truth, before returning to their current place to share the knowledge. For those who know the Lord, this destination is not only a vacation spot but our eternal heavenly home. While still here, we may find ourselves there for a short visit or to stay, for this earth is not our home. We are just pilgrims passing through. Unlike an ordinary vacation, you don’t need to pack a whole lot for the trip. In fact you may need to unpack a whole lot. You don’t need to spend a whole lot of money for airfare, accommodations, food and entertainment, for this heavenly destination I speak of is closer than you think. Your mode of transportation can be an angelic escort or Jesus Himself. You never know how you’re going to get there on any given day, and that’s the exciting part You can go there on any given day and as often as you’d like. You can’t really mark your calendar and busy yourself with long planning, just live a life yielded to the Holy Spirit every day, doing what He says, and you will get there. A number of pilgrims in the Bible got caught up here to see visions of God. They went to this heavenly vacation spot and came back to tell us about it. How wonderful and beautiful and awesome it is. How glorious are its beauties, but most importantly how majestic is its King! In the blink of an eye you can go there to see. In a heartbeat, in a moment, in a prayerful disposition. The Lord Jesus Christ can be your personal Tour Guide! What can be better than that???!!! He promises to give you a rest from your labors, not just in the next life, but on this side too. If only for a moment or for all eternity, this heavenly vacation is worth everything. So strap up, suit up, throw down, lay down, get down on your knees, whatever you need to do to get in position to take off into this heavenly vacation spot. After that, just wait. That’s all you need to do at this point. Just wait. Chariots of fire, horses of fire, angels of fire, whatever your designated mode of transportation, rest assured, as long as we remain in the Lord, we will all get there.
“So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.” 2 Corinthians 5:9 NLT
“So there remains a [full and complete] Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from [the weariness and pain of] his [human] labors, just as God rested from [those labors uniquely] His own. Hebrews 4:9-10 AMP
